Hi! I’m Cassandre, and today on Caramel Loafing, we’re diving into the world of frothy Dalgona Coffee—also known as 400-Whip Coffee. We’ll also explore classic Macau-style hand-beaten coffee and the rich, Brazilian-inspired Crema de Café Mágica. These viral whipped coffee recipes took Instagram and Facebook by storm—and they’re also easy and fun to make at home.

Though Dalgona coffee became a sensation in Korea, similar versions exist around the world: India’s Indian cappuccino, Spain’s café batido, and of course, Macau’s hand-beaten coffee. They all share the same core ingredients and whipping method. You can even turn whipped coffee into a coffee mousse-style dessert, served atop milk or layered with crushed cookies.

The name “400 Coffee” comes from the idea of whipping the mixture 400 times to achieve a dense, silky, foamy texture. Actual whipping time may vary depending on speed and strength (we swear ours felt like 800 😄). That’s part of the fun—and best of all, it’s almost foolproof. If you’ve got instant coffee lying around, this is the perfect treat to try!
